Echoes Through the Mesh

Echoes Through the Mesh reconstructs a fragmented memory of encountering ‘Valkyrie’ at Yorkshire Sculpture Park through photogrammetry. Fine physical threading details are transformed into data points, drifting the experience from a tangible and familiar memory into a fragmented digital space.
The mesh’s textile origins reminisce my grandmother’s embroidery as she crafted her clothing, dotting each thread point to create comfortable attire. This project evokes a warming environment of heritage, with its soothing soft edges. As soft geometry, dots symbolise orbs preserving memories. Soft geometrical orbs representing each needle point – sewing machine needles intersperse each thread point intricately, ticking along.
The point cloud explores how memories alter my perception of time and space. As a fragmented mesh, the unstable textures and incomplete spatial forms recreate memory as a shifting psychological landscape shaped by emotion and perception, mediated by technology. Videos depict the spatial boundaries flowing through the moving mesh. By reconstructing my memory through digital techniques, Echoes through the Mesh has become an archive - a space where perception, reality, and remembrance continuously intersect.
I encourage myself to interpret data creatively, embracing new approaches. I am Parampreet Kaur: BSc Architecture & Environmental Design student, specialising in graphical and digital representation of environmental and sensory data. My work stems from the perspectives and perceptions of geometry psychologically tested through different softwares. I focus on the real-world application of building physics to test within all my proposals.
