Eluna: A Story of Survival and Transformation By Kashante RHIANNA
This collection tells the metaphorical story of Eluna, a young woman living with a chronic illness who escapes her hometown in search of healing. After a plane crash leaves her stranded in the Arctic, she is rescued by an Inuit tribe who help her rediscover her strength. Through them, Eluna learns that she is one of their own—given away at birth to protect her from a harsh life. Guided by their wisdom, she transforms her pain into power and embraces the warrior within.
This story mirrors my personal journey with Crohn’s disease, which I was diagnosed with at 19. Living with an invisible illness throughout my university years brought isolation, physical suffering, and emotional struggle—but it also revealed a deep resilience I never knew I had. Each of the four looks in the collection represents a key figure from my healing journey: my mother, Ibd nurses, therapist, and myself.
Using materials like leather and fur, the garments explore protection, vulnerability, and inner strength. Eluna is a tribute to survival—not just of the body, but of identity and spirit—and a reminder that even in the darkest moments, we still have the power to dream, fight, and transform.
