My paintings explore the many dimensions of human connection, focusing on both romantic and platonic love as equally profound and transformative forces. Rather than presenting love as a single, fixed emotion, my work captures its shifting nature—its tenderness, intensity, comfort, and occasional fragility. Romantic love appears through intimate compositions, layered gazes, and intertwined forms, while platonic love is expressed through gestures of support, shared presence, and quiet understanding.
I work across a combination of oil paint, watercolour, and acrylic, using each medium to reflect different emotional qualities. Oil paint allows me to build depth and richness, creating soft transitions and a sense of timelessness that mirrors the enduring aspects of love. In contrast, watercolour introduces fluidity and unpredictability; its delicate washes and organic movement echo the vulnerability and openness required in meaningful relationships. Acrylic paint brings immediacy and boldness, enabling sharper contrasts and more defined shapes that highlight moments of clarity, tension, or connection.
By layering and combining these materials, I aim to create visual dialogues between permanence and impermanence, control and spontaneity. This interplay reflects the lived experience of love itself—both grounding and ever-changing. Ultimately, my work invites viewers to reflect on their own relationships, recognising the beauty in both passionate and platonic bonds, and the subtle ways they shape who we are.
Raised in Bedford, I began my artistic journey exploring a range of media across paper and canvas, developing a strong foundation in material and technique. I have developed a particular affinity for oil paint, using it to express the intensity of both romantic and platonic love. Alongside my practice, I have collaborated with emerging artists and contributed to curating an exhibition, managing social media and artist communications. My work continues to explore platonic love, creating emotionally resonant paintings that invite audiences to connect, relate, and see their own experiences reflected within the imagery.
