I have made this short film to document the transition of seasons from winter to spring. My piece reflects on increasing daylight and how this transforms our view of the natural world. The lantern initiates a weaving path through the forest at dusk. I find that a lanterns light provides a sense of calm and subtly glows in neutral tones. I find that lantern like orbs, have a mystical quality yet a gentle approach to offering light. There is a fleeting feeling throughout my piece. It is visible with the explosion of colour that one associates with spring that only exists for a short period. The term 'fleeting' may be questioned when lengthy scenes indicate that duration has become a core value of the piece. However, these conflicting elements challenge viewers to engage with a slower-paced film. I believe we live in a world that requires us to constantly rush around leaving us unable to appreciate the quietness of dusk between the birdsong, the sound of footprints made in the earth and the rustle of trees.

My paintings, installations, and films explore the natural world and its relation to well-being. My art has been concerned with seeking tranquillity through nature to withdraw from the loud hustle and bustle of urbanised living. Throughout projects, I have consistently situated my art within dark spaces, so the colour of the projection becomes vivid. Icey blues transport the viewer to the ethereal and serene essence of winter, whereas neutral tones of light pink and beige support relaxation. Working with the visual identity of cold and warmth has served as a reflection of how temperature can be physical and emotional.
