INTERCONNECTEDNESS

Paola Alba

My artwork emerges from an ongoing process of awakening. Responding to themes of connection, stillness, and animism, my work explores the invisible threads that bind us to one another and to the natural world. I approach nature as a symbolic language to express interconnectedness, transformation, and inner awareness.

Working across diverse media such as clay, papier-mâché, risograph printing, and acrylic on canvas, I create immersive installations in which the materials themselves carry meaning. Each element is intentionally connected, forming a visual and sensory dialogue that invites viewers to move through the work as they would through an external and internal landscape.

My practice draws from ancestral art traditions, the sensibilities of mystic artists, and my own lived experiences. These influences guide me toward a slower, more intuitive way of making where presence, ritual, and embodied knowledge are at the core of the artwork. In a time when present life is increasingly shaped by technology and disconnection, my work seeks to gently resist this fragmentation by creating spaces for reflection, reconnection, and stillness.

Ultimately, my work is an invitation to pause, to be fully present, and to listen inwardly. Within that quiet attention lies a deeper awareness, one that reveals our shared existence and the subtle, lasting connections that unite us all.

Paola Alba is an emerging artist currently studying a Foundation in Art and Design at the University of Westminster, where she specialises in Illustration.

Her practice is distinctly interdisciplinary, working with clay and papier-mâché to create tactile, sculptural forms, while also engaging in risograph printing and acrylic painting. Her focus on human qualities like inner strength, freedom, and the flow of life, rather than telling direct narratives, likely creates spaces for reflection, inviting viewers to engage with their own sense of balance, resilience, and presence.Conceptually, her work is rooted in introspection. She explores themes such as connection, stillness, and Animism.
