Milk, Blood & Lipstick

Adele Feeley

My final collection, entitled ‘Milk, Blood and Lipstick’, is a visceral exploration of the monstrous feminine, reimagining traditional textiles through modern, subversive processes. Inspired by Barbara Creed’s psychoanalysis of cult horror cinema (The Devils, Immoral Tales and Carrie), vintage lingerie, and pornography, the collection transforms symbols of femininity into powerful, uncanny surfaces. Sporty silhouettes collide with corsetry, suggesting bodies both adorned and constrained.

Silicone-cast doilies evoke the softness of milk while turning domestic lace into synthetic skin. Laser-cut leather takes the softness of lace and renders it an aggressive material that references blood and violence. Bold prints and glossy finishes channel lipstick’s ritualistic femininity and performative power. Blonde tones run throughout the collection, referencing the 'final girl' trope — the survivor, the spectacle, the one who endures. In this palette of innocence and confrontation, femininity is rendered defiant: intimate, grotesque, and dripping with 'Milk, Blood, and Lipstick'.
