Mirage

Ademi Adeyemo

'Mirage' is a carefully curated collection that explores the imaginative potential of typography. The design combines colours, shapes, and sizes to reinterpret individual words, creating a childlike and playful visual experience. Each word is hand-drawn and then digitally uploaded to create a moving image that expresses personal creativity. The alternating pattern of white and coloured words adds visual interest and symbolises how simple words unite to form a bold, eye-catching whole that represents individuality within a collective. A digital rendering on Photoshop, animated on Premiere. The repetitive movements in each image were created in Photoshop. Then rendered in Premiere. The technique I used was very repetitive: as I had to put each word on a plain black background and then add the colours to the individual letters, which made it bolder and Right in your face, begging the question. Why these words and why this order? Even though there is no order. It's more like chaos. The words in Mirage are all kinds of random, and also not. I used a random word generator to get them, but I also chose them, as there are thousands of words I could have used. I used these specific words because they all had some meaning to me, and I can make them as distinct as I want by grouping some words together. Moon and Luna are grouped; Knight, King, and Queen are grouped as well, but there are also individuals like Invisible and Tornado coming together in a Tornado of randomised chaos.

Ademi Adeyemo is currently completing a foundation in art and design, specialising in graphics for next year. At the University of Westminster. Adeyemo works with more digital expressions because she likes the expansive freedom digital work gives her. She is planning to expand her use of digital programs, explore how she can use digital art and digital expression, and deepen her creative knowledge of digital Art. She wants to do Animation in her first year to push her limits and deepen her understanding of storytelling through digital media and expression.
