New Earth Architecture Institute
Ria Rahman
The New Earth Architecture Institute (NEAI) is a climate-responsive architecture campus proposed for Deptford, London, designed to educate future architects in response to a changing climate. Set within a speculative future in 2080, where artificial intelligence has become deeply integrated into everyday life and environmental instability has reshaped society, the project reimagines the architecture school as both a centre for learning and a community resource during periods of extreme weather.
A continuous ramp forms the primary circulation route through the campus, connecting learning, social, and public spaces while encouraging interaction between students and the wider community. Within the main studio building, naturally ventilation via an atrium is used to regulate internal temperatures and reduce reliance on mechanical cooling.
The proposal presents architecture as a tool for resilience, adaptation, and long-term environmental responsibility.
Ria Rahman is an Architecture student whose work is shaped by a fascination with the relationship between people, nature, and the built environment. Through a sustainable and environmentally conscious approach, she explores how architecture can create meaningful spaces that support wellbeing, strengthen communities, and respond to the challenges of a changing climate.
