Fascinated by the cosmos and a changing world where technology advances at colossal speed, I create a striking and imaginative womenswear collection. Captivated by meteor showers, moody images of the moon, and youthful visits to science museums, I also reference the groundbreaking and minimal silhouettes of the 60s. Circles and curves abound in both softly draped or simple, embellished shapes. Oversized, bespoke, printed sequin decorations are married with shiny studs for maximum impact. A palette of dark navy, soft blue-grey, and white is used throughout, adding drama and contrast.

Referring to the bold curves of 60s sci-fi and furniture, simple, sculptural shapes are crafted from neoprene. Crepe is used for a softly draped dress, and faux leather is manipulated in strips to create a bold 3D texture for a cape. This striking collection explores connections between space, imagination, the past, and the future.

I’m Xiwen Zhang, a womenswear designer with experience at 16Arlington, Eudon Choi, Yuhan Wang, and Daniel W. Fletcher. My work focuses on balancing creativity with wearability, combining sculptural forms and clean lines with a feminine touch. I often draw inspiration from furniture design, architecture, and modernist aesthetics, translating structural references into refined garments. Skilled in research, draping, pattern cutting, and embellishment, I approach design with both technical precision and emotional sensitivity. I aim to create contemporary womenswear that is expressive, thoughtful, and grounded in strong material and silhouette choices.
