Hey! I am Shemaiah and I am an overthinker! In initiating work, the struggle was not producing ideas but narrowing the list of potential topics I would come up with. I was experiencing analysis paralysis. I decided to tackle overthinking as a personal exercise employing theoretical and practical creative processes such as Piskarov’s Neurographics: or drawing with Mindfulness. So far, the therapeutic and mediating techniques and exercises have pacified my overthinking. Through this work I want to helpfully encourage others to identify and seek supportive methods of change.

While my primary discipline lies in illustration, I harbour a profound passion for both the creation and consumption of animation. Over recent years, I’ve integrated animation techniques such as rotoscoping and 2D animation to enrich the narratives within my illustrative work. Infusing simple movements into my projects has enabled me to evolve into an interdisciplinary practitioner. Recently I took on a project with Automata as an introduction to 3D modelling and animating. The device was able to elicit small anatomical movements. In contrast to my previous work, the handmade device allowed me to appreciate the more crude, tangible, and authentic hands-on projects.
