(Re) Balancing the Monolith

Julia Sliwinska

The project responds to the isolated and inward facing nature of data centres, which often disrupt the rhythm of the city while offering little in return. The proposal introduces a fractured landscape that brings light, ecology and public use back into the site, creating spaces for workers and visitors that do not currently exist. In doing so, it reframes the relationship between data infrastructure and the city shifting it from something closed and technical to something spatial, social and shared.

Julia Sliwinska is a London based architectural student whose work moves between technical precision and the social life of urban spaces. Raised in London, she has developed projects that reimagine overlooked sites through careful detailing, landscape integration, and a strong civic focus. She continues to live, work, and study in London.
