Centered on the philosophy of Hegel’s "Master-Slave Dialectic," Shadowed Love explores the power imbalances and loss of identitywithin emotional relationships. This form of emotional exploitation and repression is often disguised as love, making it difficult for those involved to recognize the toxicity, and they may even develop a dependency on the one inflicting pain. Through this fashion photography project, I aim to express the underlying power dynamics in such emotional relationships, revealing how people canlose themselves in love and be consumed by the desire for control.
Visually, I will use exaggerated styling, stark contrasts in proportions, and symbolic clothing and settings to portray the conflict and unity of the master and slave within these relationships.
This project serves not only as a reflection on modern youth relationships but also as a philosophical exploration of identity in love, reminding individuals to be wary of losing themselves in the fog of emotional entanglement.
