This collection explores the intersection between the practicality of outdoor gear and the intimacy of traditional textile craft, drawing inspiration from wet and windy weather conditions. I aimed to design garments that offer both protection and storytelling. By combining waterproof technical fabrics with textiles derived from gridded lace patterns, the collection juxtaposes function with fragility, and structure with softness. Silhouettes take cues from mountaineering equipment such as tents, rucksacks, and sleeping bags, incorporating utilitarian elements like adjustable cords, buckles, and drawstrings. Each garment is transformable, with detachable and adjustable elements that echo the adaptability of explorers’ gear in ever-changing environments. Decorative cross-stitching and gathered forms reference folkloric femininity, bringing a tactile sensitivity to the technical materials. Lace elements are translated into gridded floral prints, and thousands of metal rivet studs are carefully placed. Hand-poured resin droplets create realistic raindrops clinging to fabric, while blurred prints evoke the softness of mist and weathered memory.

I'm KJ Tantivachyanon, a fashion designer based between London and Bangkok. I recently completed a year of industry experience, interning with Chopova Lowena, and Aries Arise, where I worked across design, production, and styling. My work explores the intersection of functionality and craft, drawing inspiration from mountaineering gear, military uniforms, and traditional domestic techniques like lace and embroidery. I focus on combining the practicality of outdoor wear with a feminine aesthetic, using silhouette and material to create garments that are both utilitarian and emotionally expressive.
